As the department lead, your principal has asked you to present information to your department about integrating writing into your content area. Create a 10-12 digital slide presentation including the following: · Rationale of how writing standards can support learning in all content areas · Two examples of how teachers in your department can integrate writing to enhance learning in your content area · Two examples of writing strategies that teachers can use to engage students in diverse perspectives and various kinds of learning in your content area · Two activities that can support development of written expression in your content area (One of these activities will be implemented in Clinical Field Experience C.) · Explanation of the role of professional judgment and practical knowledge for improving the literacy development of all students across content areas · Title slide, reference slide, and presenter notes The digital presentation must be visually appealing, including graphics that are relevant to the content, and using space appropriately.
Support your presentation with 3-4 scholarly resources. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required. Directions: This is due within 28 hours, this is for a reading education course. The content area that I am studying is Secondary Social Science.
Prior to your field experience, review the requirements of all clinical field experiences for this course. Create a document to share with your mentor teacher detailing the requirements for all field experiences for this course, and what is being requested of your mentor. This document should include the scheduling required to complete all assignments. Building literacy skills in cross-disciplinary instruction is an essential component of student learning. Teachers must integrate literacy with purpose in all content areas in order for students to make necessary connections.
It is especially key to collaborate with veteran teachers when planning integration of another content area, such as literacy into the classroom. Allocate at least 5 hours in the field to support this field experience. Part 1: Observation Observe your mentor teacher in your chosen content area. During your observation of the lesson, take note of how literacy is integrated into the content area and what literacy strategies are implemented to engage students in diverse perspectives and various kinds of learning. With permission from your mentor teacher, seek opportunities to observe another classroom.

How do you handle the situation when parents disapprove of a text selection? Use any remaining field experience hours to assist the teacher in providing instruction and support to the class.
