In this reflection, I will elaborate on five key areas where the theories and methodologies learned in this course can be implemented practically in my work environment.
1. Understanding System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
One of the foundational theories introduced in IT301 was the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The SDLC presents various phases of software development, encompassing planning, analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance (Sommerville, 2011). In my current role as a systems analyst, I frequently participate in project development phases. For instance, during the designing phase of a project for optimizing our company's inventory management system, I applied SDLC principles to ensure comprehensive documentation and communication among stakeholders (Pressman, 2010). Understanding each phase of the SDLC allows me to foster collaboration with developers and project managers, aligning their goals with company objectives effectively.
2. Database Management Systems (DBMS)
