Question

Here is the question? Part B states just saline, but when someone responded back to me they answered the question on reference to a glucose-saline solution being sterilized. If these are two different solutions, would boiling it in an autoclave still be the answer?

Assume you are responsible for decontamination of materials in a hospital. How would you sterilize each of the following? Briefly explain why you chose that method. A. A mattress used by a patient with bubonic plague. B. Intravenous saline solutions. C. Used disposable syringes.

Explanation / Answer

a. ultra violet germicidal radiation, light enzyme mostly to kill remaining colonies.

b.Glucose saline solution should be put in autoclave.Water is needed which should be with salt and minerals. Water should be boiled so that it kills all bacteria. This is applicable to both the saline and glucose saline solutions.

c. This is a disposable one time use so just throw it away. Use the ethylene oxide if you must sterilize them first. Place in bio waste when finished
