Question

I have to complete a worksheet and this problem is just driving me crazy! I need major help! Please help me and not only put the answer but also show how you got the answer so I can do more problems like this on my own:) Thank you so much for taking the time out to help! Much appriciated! Getting very stressed!:)

(Here are the previous questions I have answered... I dont think they have anything to do with the problem I need answered however I am not sure!1. Calculate the pH of a solution of .18 M HCl.     I got pH .745    2. After the dilution of the concentration of a test tube is determined to be 6.1*10-10 M H+ . What is the pH of the solution? Is it an acid or a base. answer: pH =6.698 concidered an acid because it is less than 7.

In the titration of 50 mL of strong acid, 22.8mL of 0.15 M of NaOH werer added before the equivalence point was reached.

a) How many moles of Na OH were added?

b) What is the concentration of the strong acid?

c) What is the pH of the acid at the beginning of the titration?

Explanation / Answer

Moles of NaOH= Molarity* Volume in L= 0.15*22.8/1000 =0.00342

The strong acid is assumed to be HCl

The reaction between HCl and NaOH is NaOH+ HCl--------> NaCl + H2O

moles of NaOH= moles of HCl

Moles of HCl =0.00342

Volume of HCl =0.00342/0.18=0.019 L =19 ml

c) Concentration of HCl = 0.18, pH= -log(0.18)=0.745
