Question
Please help. I'm debating between answers B and D. I think hydrogen bonding is occuring between the Asp side chain and the two Nitrogens on the guanidinobenzoyl group, but I am not sure about an ionic bond.
g style inP the Asp 189 side chain overlap with to form A. atom NE of the substrate; an ion pair and/or hydrogen bonds B. atoms NH1 and NH2 of the substrate; an ion pair and/or hydrogen bonds C. atom NE of the substrate; only hydrogen bonds D. atoms NH1 and NH2 of the substrate; only hydrogen bondsExplanation / Answer
ASP side chain contains two NH groups . in these the nitrogen atoms involve hydrogen bonds only . due to proteins are formed by peptide bonds . the structure of proteins explained by 10 20 30 40 structures. 20 structure explains shape of polypeptide chains. it is two types 1. alpha-helix and 2.beta pleated sheet structure . both involve in hydrogen bonds between polypeptide chains.
so option D is correct
