Explanation / Answer

Part 1

H2O + CO ? H2 + CO2

Part 2

H2 + CO2? H2O + CO

Part 3

Adding more CO will cause the rate of the forward reaction to increase according to Le Chatelier’s Principle. If we added more hydrogen or removed CO the rate of the forward reaction would increase. There is no hydrogen at t=0 as Hydrogen is the product formed as a result of this reaction.

Part 4

The reverse reaction is the reaction between carbon dioxide and hydrogen to form carbon monoxide and steam. Hence this reaction would speed up if we added more carbon dioxide and hydrogen, hence removing carbon dioxide and hydrogen would slow this reaction according to Le Chatelier’s Principle.

Note:

Le Chatelier's principle states that when a system experiences a disturbance (such as concentration, temperature, or pressure changes), it will respond to restore a new equilibrium state.
