Question
Pollutants can harm ecosystem function and may also harm human health. You will write an APA-style research paper about pollutants, their impacts, and mitigation of harmful effects. Include the following: Select 1 example of an environmental pollutant from the following list: Acid precipitation Acid rain Smog DDT pesticide use Eutrophication Answer the following questions about the pollution problem that you chose: Describe the pollutant chosen and the source of the pollutants. Include both natural and human sources, as applicable. Is this a point pollutant or nonpoint-source pollutant? Explain. What are the harmful impacts of the pollution? Describe impacts to both humans and to ecosystem structure and function. What steps are in place to eliminate the pollutant or to mitigate harm from the pollutant? Describe examples of laws or regulations that apply to the pollution and it sources. Also, describe educational programs, technology, or other initiatives that are used to help control the pollution. Have the programs, best management practices, or regulations been effective in resolving harm from the pollutant? Give examples of progress, or explain with examples what more could be done.Explanation / Answer
acid precipitation/acid rain-
1) Acid rain is basically a type of rain that is unusually acidic in nature.it means that it have high concerntration of H ions in it which reduced it pH level . it can have harmful effect on plant as well as animals life. in the view point of damaging the object, it can produced great damages to the non living objects too. it produced the damaging contribution to building and ornamental and destroy a large portion of forest and buildings.
The sources for the cause of acid rain is due to the human activities like emmision of harmful gases from the industries and natural source of production is like volcanic eruptions. in industries, many operation and processec are carried out which produces sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxide which when come out to the chimneys ,get mixed with the atmospheric air and produced acidic water in the clouds. the same process is also apply for the case of volcanic erruptions.
sources of pollutions-
human sources=> industrial activities, other polluting substances for which human are responsible.
natural sources=> volcanic erruptions, forest fire, marsh gas
It is a point source of pollution because in this pollution the polluting substances is discharge from single identifiable sources like industries or volcanic erruptions. a point source has negligible extent, distinguishing it from the pollution sources geometry.

harmful impacts of pollution-
in every type of environmental pollution it have it's own impact to the human as well as ecological cycle of the environment. it produced the great damages to the plants life as well as human life. any serious problems are faced by us due to the increase in the concerntration of pollution in the environment today. the impacts on human being are that it produces many diseases and parmanent health problems to the body. it may be lungs diseases and cancers. many chromic syndromes are also take place to the human. on the other hand the environment and ecological cycle also get imbalanced due to the pollution. it greatly effect the life cycle of plant and animal. destroy the habitat of animals. it create the problems and disturbances in the food chains too.

steps for elimination or mitigate harm from the pollutants-
> there should be reduction in the emission of the pollutant causing substances from the industries to the atmosphere.
> it should be made to check the byproduct of factories and analyse the amount of pollutant in it which contributing pollution to the environment.
> plantation of trees as much as we can as it will absorb the pollutant and make the environment freash and clean.
todays various laws regarding this problems of pollution are made so that it can measure the parameter of pollution and impliment the correct steps which can reduce it. P2 law is an example which check the pollution control parameters. today educations are also have enrolled the topic of pollution control in them. they try to focus on the souces which can reduce the pollution from the environment. they try to invent the technologies which will renewable souces of energy so that it will ecofriendly and non damaging to the environment.

resolving the pollution problems-
Today the amount of pollution in the environment of worl is too much that become a serious problems not for us but for the whole planet. pollution have it own impact to the health and nation. as these produces many troubles so in present time scientist are mainly focused in the development of green energy or we can say renewable source of energy. these source of energy can effectively reduce the pollution from the environment if they are utilize properly. nowadays we use solar panels and hydro power to generate the elecricity. which is totall ecofriendly and have the safe measure to the environment.
