a) RED SHALE AND QUARTZ SANDSTONE, the red shale indicating most intense metamorphism which include high metamorphic minerals and also high grade metamorphism to form high grade rock type, they include kyanite schist and staurolite schist which form at high temperature and at medium grade metamorphism later followed by garnet schist, biotite schist, chlorite schist and chlorite phyllite. And the Quartz sandstone include formation of quartzite which are formed at medium to high grade metamorphism.
And the least intense is black and gray limestones, which have limestone and marble, showing evidence that they are not much changed from limestone and just remained as limestone.
b) RED SHALE AND GREEN SHALE recorded the best differences in the metamorphic grade from very low to high metamorphic grade and temperatures which is from chlorite slate to kyanite schist. comparatively RED SHALE has more difference than GREEN SHALES.
c) The parent rock which are least helpful for determining the metamorphic grade are GRAY AND BLACK LIMESTONE (which include limestone and marble which form at very low to high grade metamorphism), they doesnt give a clue at what temperature they form, remaining as a constant type of rock throughout the increasing temperatures. And the next is Brown shale with medium grade metamorphism.
