Can you please give me 5 intelligent questions about this power point to ask to the presenter?

THE THIRD INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

FIRST INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION RECAP
• The First Industrial Revolution began in Britain during the late18th century and
was all about products that were once made by hand, were now being
produced within a factory setting, which included special-purpose machinery
and mass production.
• It started with the mechanization of the iron and textile industry, and ended in
the creation of the steam engine and the cotton gin.
• The First Industrial Revolution ended with increased volume and variety of
manufactured good and a steady improvement in the communication, banking,
and transportation systems.

SECOND INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
• The Second Industrial Revolution began when Henry Ford successfully created the
world’s first moving assembly line in the 20th century.
• It started right in the middle of the aftermath following the United States Civil War
that ended in 1865.
• One of the biggest inventions of the second industrial revolution was the railroad
system. It moved heavy goods in a fraction of the time that it use too. This helped the
United States produce more that 1/3rd of the world’s industrial output.
• Technology became bigger and started playing a bigger role in the lives of middle
and upper class citizens.
• Living conditions rapidly increased and became even better than that of the first
revolution.

SECOND INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION CONT.
• • 1870s – Automatic signals, air brakes, and knuckle couplers on the railroads; the
Bessemer and then the open-hearth process in the steel mills; the telephone, electric
light, and typewriter.
• • 1880s – The elevator and structural steel for buildings, leading to the first
“skyscrapers.”
• • 1890s – The phonograph and motion pictures; the electric generator, contributing to
modern household items such as refrigerators and washing machines and gradually
replaced water and steam powered engines; and the internal combustion engine,
which made possible the first automobiles and the first airplane flight by the Wright
brothers in 1903.

WHAT IS THE THIRD REVOLUTION?
• It is believed that the 3D printer is going to be the start of a new era and
begin the nations Third Industrial Revolution.
• Chuck Hull is the inventor and actually created the first 3D printer in 1984
• It has now become the next new invention that can help anything from making
cars, helping out military, and advancing healthcare within our nation
• It can be designed on the computer and “print” a solid object by building up
successive layers of material.

WHAT HAS IT ALREADY DONE?
• With the 3D printer, it has already created things from hearing aids to parts for
military jets that have customized shapes.
• It can run unattended and make things that are too complex for a traditional factory
to handle. It will soon be able to make anything from a house garage to hopefully a
small village.
• The new materials are lighter, stronger, and more durable than anything else used
before.
• Carbon fiber is the main material being used and it is replacing such things, as steel
and aluminum.

WHERE IS IT GOING?
• Much like the other two industrial revolutions, there will be some downfalls.
With the advancement in technology and the things that it can do at a much
faster pace, factory jobs will soon diminish.
• Most jobs will soon move off of factory floors and more into offices. They will
be full of designers, engineers, IT specialist, logistics experts, marketing staff,
and other professionals.
• People will have little difficulty adapting and adjusting with the new
generation entering the work force.

MOVING CLOSER TO HOME
• The revolution will soon start moving production closer to home. Not only due
to rising labor cost in other countries, but they are also growing less and less
important.
• They aren’t exactly moving back to richer countries, but companies want to be
closer to their customers so they can respond quicker to changes in demand.
• 10-30% of goods that the US imports from China can soon be made on home
soil by the year 2020.
• This will boost American output by $20-$55 billion a year.

ENTERING THE NEW ERA
• With the newer generation slowly starting to enter the work force, the
technology based generation will have no trouble adapting to the Third
Industrial Revolution.
• The United States is ready for this next step and welcomes it and is ready to
embrace the change.
