Question

Since 2009, more people are living in urban areas than rural communities, and this trend is expected to increase. The process of people shifting from country to city life is called urbanization. But is city life sustainable? Picture the congestion, noise, and buildings of a city, and compare that to an image of the country with open space, green grass, and quietness. It may seem that city living is not as “green” or sustainable, but it can be. For example, in a city you can walk to where you need to go or take public transportation, environmentally friendly options that are not as accessible in rural settings. As urbanization continues, there is a need to ensure cities are sustainable, meeting the needs of people while minimizing the ecological footprint. This week you will describe the key components of a sustainable city and compare city living to that of suburbs and rural communities in terms of sustainability.

Since cities are heavily populated and each member having vehicles, the amount of pollution is extremely high in cities and this has led to great amount of pollution and allergic diseases, even in small kids. However, in villages the question of pollution does not come up to that level of what it is there in cities and hence fresher and less polluted air is available, which is good for both health and mind.

2. There is no fresh air and pure water in cities. The environment is polluted with dust, smoke, garbage and dioxide gases from factories. The village has clean air and the environment is very beautiful.

3. The city is always busy and noisy. There are a lot of vehicles and people in the road. The streets are dusty and unclean. So it is hard to lead a healthy life in the city. The village has less noise and rush. So the pollution is less. The village has not lot of vehicles. So roads are less dangerous for driving cycling. They can get fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. The environment of the village is pleasant and silent and it has scenic beauty.
