Question
Polls show users prefer Facebook over Myspace.
Polls show that more than 95% of users prefer Facebook over all others, when it comes to social media. When asked if they would find themselves using Facebook or Myspace routinely through the day, 1520 out the 1600 said they used Facebook. 1500 of those surveyed did not have any other social media platform account. This clearly shows that Facebook is the more widely used social media platform.
This Social Media today News poll was conducted by telephone August 16-20, 2017 among a random national sample of 1,600 adults, including users of both conventional and cellular phones. Adults surveyed range from 45 to 65 years of age. Gender of those surveyed were 75% female and 25% male. The results from the full survey have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points. Sampling, data collection and tabulation by JAS of Glen Mills, OH.
What is being claimed?
How good is the evidence?
Is the evidence credible?
Were there non-sampling biases? Did the questions, question order, survey introduction, or interviewer invite biased answers?
Explanation / Answer
Ans 1) It is claimed that facebook is the most widely used social media platform.
Ans 2) Evidence that is provided is quite good because out of the sample survey of 1600 , 1520 were in the favour of the claim and this is a very huge number which makes about 95% of the people in the survey supporting the claim.
Ans 3) No, the evidence doesn't appears to be credible because the people which were in the sample were not evenly distributed , considering the age, gender the people which were included in the survey does not evenly represent people from every age category and neither both the genders were represented properly.
Ans 4) Yes , there were non-sampling biases because first of all the gender were not properly represented , females were 75% which makes it unequal representation of both the genders, talking about age, only people of 45-65 age group were included which is not correct because facebook users also include people of other age groups which makes improper representation in terms of age.
