Explanation / Answer

Japan’s Toyota, more than any other auto manufacturer, has built its name on quality. Now its identity is in question as it recalls millions of vehicles because they may suddenly accelerate, putting the lives of drivers and passengers at risk.

The company’s CEO was dragged before Congress and chastised for Toyota’s apparent lack of concern for safety. The trouble hurt the car company’s sales and damaged one of the world’s most valuable brands.

It is learned that Toyota has been aggressive enough in coming forward to calm consumers’ fears even though it is a serious issue.

Subject to increasing pressure from the National Highway Safety Administration, Toyota has announced that it has found a way to fix the accelerator problem and is ordering new parts for dealers to repair recalled cars.

It is best to be upfront when a business makes a mistake, because delays and uncertainty only make matters worse in the long run.
