Diagnosis for COPD:
Patient who has symptoms related to dyspnea, extreme cough and sputum production should be tested according to COPD guildlines.
The aim of COPD is to evaluate the prognosis, diagnosis, risk factors, and future aspects of the disease in order to prevent disease and give proper therapy guildlines.
Disease associated with COPD such as lung cancer, anxiety, depression, heart problems, arthritis, bone disease should be taken care and treated on time as such events can lead to more mortality rate.
Management of COPD:
1. Evaluating patient on the basis of symptoms and predicting the future risk for the condition.
2. Giving education to person who have smoking habit to quit as soon as possible.
3. The main task is to reduce the number of cases and the future risk associated with COPD.
4. The scope of COPD include taking advantage of both pharmacological and non-pharmacological area in order to provide benefits to patient's.
Prevention of COPD:
1. Spreading awarness for quitting smoking habits and the risk associated with it.
2. Influenza vaccination is reducing the incindence of respiratory tract disorder.
3. Long term oxygen therapy is improving the health of people associated with chronic disorder.
4. Inhaler technique use is utilised more for breathing realted issues.
Case study: patient has a history of smoking from past 35 years and her age is 65 years old, she recently complained about chest pain and getting tired easily.
Test: Pulmonary function test will be prescribed to detect the amount of air inhalation and exhale.
Spirometry can be done to check early systoms of COPD. Chest X-ray, CT scan, checking for presence of any blood clot in veins etc are the test physician will conduct in order to diagnose for COPD.
If the condition is chronic the treatment option are:
Quiting smoking, kept on medications, Oral steroids, Inhaler can be prescribed, antibiobiotics etc. can be utilised for treatment.
