First Law of thermodynamics states that

Del U =DelQ- W

Work done by gas is taken as positive and work done on gas is taken as negative

Cv of monoatomic gas=1.5R

DelU= n*Cv*delT where n is the no. of moles of gas

DelU=4*1.5*130 =780J

W=-500

780=Q+500

Q=280J

this heat is positive..so heat flows into gas and is equal to 280J
