Question
When switch S in the figure is open, the voltmeter V of the battery reads 3.08V . When the switch is closed, the voltmeter reading drops to 2.90V , and the ammeter A reads 1.62A . Assume that the two meters are ideal, so they do not affect the circuit. Find the emf E.
When switch S in the figure is open, the voltmeter V of the battery reads 3.08V . When the switch is closed, the voltmeter reading drops to 2.90V , and the ammeter A reads 1.62A . Assume that the two meters are ideal, so they do not affect the circuit. Find the emf E.Explanation / Answer
since the ammeter and voltameter are ideal =>voltameter has infinite resistance and ammeter has zero resistance
So when switch is open no current is flowing in the system(voltameter has infinite resistance)
Therefore E=voltameter reading when the switch is open
E=3.08V
