(b) What is the magnification of the mirror?

Explanation / Answer

apply for concave mirror 1/f = 1/u + 1/v

u = object distance,

v= image distance

and f = focal length = R/2 = 45/2 = 22.5 cm

so 1/u = 1/f -1/v

u = vf/(v-f)

u = 24.5* 22.5/(24.5+22.5)

u = 11.72 cm
------------------------------

magnification m = -v/u = -24.5/11.72 = 2.09
