Question
A qualitative researcher is reporting on a phenomenological study about the lived experience of "fame". Audiotaped interviews with ten participants from a reality show were transcribed verbatim and data was entered into a qualitative analysis software tool. Data was coded and four themes emerged and were reported in a peer-reviewed journal publication; the themes were supported by direct quotes from seven out of the ten participants.
A phenomenological design was used in this study to understand:
the cultural behavior associated with famous people
their behavior on the reality show
the relationship of fame to being selected as a reality show contestant
the essence of fame
