Design your own experiment based on the following observation:
**Birds seem to visit your bird feeders more often during cold weather.
Question: Do birds consume more food in the winter time?
Hypothesis: My hypothesis is that birds consume larger quantites of food in the winter time because I have had more birds visiting my bird feeders during this time than any other season.
Experimental Design: (Don’t hurt the birds!)
Control Group: Number of birds visiting the bird feeder
Independent Variables: Brands/types of bird food and the number of bird feeders hung.
Dependent Variables: Locations of where the bird feeders are placed
Standardized Variables:
Replication (Sample Size): A minimum of one bird feeder will always be hung in the garden. A minimum of 5 ounces of bird feed will be placed into the feeder at dawn. 0500 a.m biweekly.
What data would you collect?
The type of data I would collect is the measurement of bird feed before and after daylight to accurately measure the amount of bird feed consumed biweekly in the Winter from
21 December to 20 March. Also, I would measure consumption amounts in the other seasons to see if my hypothesis was correct and that birds consume more food in the winter time. I would also test other bird feed to see if they favor a particular type of bird feed over the other.

The experimental design looks good except for the few changes listed below,
