The picture is a typical display you may see on an oscilloscope. Assume that the volts/div setting is 50 V/div and the time/div setting is 5 ms/div.
What are the period, frequency and amplitude of this signal (do not forget units)?
Explanation / Answer
Calculation for Equivalent resistance -
R1+R2 is in Parallel with R3
R1+R2 = 6 , R3 = 3
Eq Resistance btw AB = 6*3 / (6+3) = 2 ohm
Rab is in Series with R4
Eq Resistance = 2 + 3 = 5 ohm
Now, This is in parallel with R5.
Eq Resistance btw AC = 5*3/(5+3) = 15/8 = 1.875
This is in series with R6 = 1.875 + 3 = 4.875 ohm
Current in the circut I = 9/4.875 = 1.85 amp
C)
Current in Resistor R4 = Total Current - Current coming from R5.
Current in Resistor R4 = 1.85 - 1.15
Current in Resistor R4 = 0.7 mA
D)
Let Current in Resitor R3 = I3
I3* R3 = I12* (R1+R2)
I3 * 3 = I12 * 6
I12 = I3/2
I3 + I12 = 0.7
I3 + I3 / 2 = 0.7
I3 = 0.47 amp
Current in Resitor R3, I3 = 0.47 mA
