Question

Consider the velocity vs time graph shown here, focusing on the issue of whether the object turns around (reverses direction). Why might a smart student say the object reverses direction? Why might, smart student say the object doesn't reverse direction? Does the object reverse direction? As part of your explanation, explain why the other argument is incorrect, and give advice to someone who made that mistake that can help them understand why they made the mistake and how they can avoid it in the future. Sketch a graph of die object's position vs. time-

Explanation / Answer

(a) If we observe grpagh, the grapgh lies in first coordinate. It means velocity have postive value but it slope is positive and negative. Initially velocity is increased and reaches maxium velocity and next it will be decreased, finaly it becomes to rest position. But it never moves in opposite direction of initial motion. So it dos not follow reverse direction.

(b) He think that the velocity decresing means it may be moving in reverse direction.

(c) No, In grapgh velocity is not negative and it is not moving in reverese direction. Velocity is poistive and it is decreasing. For example if a bike rider rise accelerator then it speed incresed after some time if he apply breaks then it velocity decreased and bike will come to rest position. But it will never move in reverese direction
