Explanation / Answer

Ans 1) According to the Intelligent design of evolution, the IC or irreducible complexity is a situation or an assumption that some biological systems are not able to evolve through small modifications that occur successively to the already existing system of the biological entity or component through natural selection. It is one of the main concepts that were used by the supporters of the intelligent design.

Ans 2) The Michael Behe’s opinion of the irreducibly complex flagella of bacteria is one of the most important topic under intelligent design. Micheal Behe showed the concept of irreducible complexity using the bacterial flagella. It is a hair like appendage which helps the bacteria to swim. He stated it is an irreducibly complex process as he stated that all the parts of the flagellum must be present from the start in order for it to perform its function. This challenged that classical neo-Darwinian explanation which states that any component or part which is of no use or has no advantage is lost in the process. It is considered an efficient motor machine system and Michael Bele believed it requires all components of the flagella to be present from start to end without any loss for it to perform.

Ans 3) Kenneth Miller argues with the validity of irreducible complexity of bacterial flagella as he states the there are similar parts of the flagellum in different species of bacteria which can have different functions despite the common descent. He refutes the theory by Behe as it is observed that some parts of the flagella can be removed and it wont hinder with its motility function.

Ans 4) Willain A Dembski believes we can detect intelligence design in nature by stating that a probability theory can be used to prove the irreducible complexity. He believes it is a process of removing the evolution process from the public imagination.

Ans 5) according to Robert Pennock, the basic problems scientists have with Dembski’s detection of intelligence design

i)The first reason is considering it as creationism which is most likely false. It is something that has not been accepted amongst the scientific and academic experts. The lack of actual claims is one of the basic problems.

ii) It is marked as pseudoscience which is the major problem as there are not much concrete scientific explanations and concrete stories given.

Ans 6)Euginie C Scott is against teaching intelligent design in class and majorly the teaching of creationism associated with it. It is because she believes it is something that can have serious consequences on science and education. She believes it is a supernatural agent which could impact the thought and understanding of evolution negatively.
