Homework 04 1 & In figure, a ball is thrown up onto a roof and lands 3.99 s later at heighth the Marks: = 19.7 m above the release levelThe ball's path just before landing is angled 10/10 at 0 = 57.1° with the roof. What was the angle (relative to horizontal) of the balls initial velocity? I 0 0 0 DIDO Answer: 68, 9 Correct Marks for this submission: 10/10. 2 & A particle moves counterclockwise in a circle of radius R = 20.8 m about the origin. At t = 0, the particle is at 60° above the positive X-axis and its Marks : 10/10 acceleration is a = -0.417 J mvs, as shown in the figure. The particle slows down at a constant rate until it comes to a stop. How much time (in seconds) does it take for the particle to come to a stop? Answer: 13.1 $ Correct Marks for this submission: 10/10.

Explanation / Answer

Applying second equation of motion in vertical direction

h = ut - 0.5gt^2

19.7 = u*3.99 - 0.5*9.8*3.99^2

3.99u = 19.7 +78

u = 97.7/3.99 = 24.486 m/s......this initial vertical velocity

final vertical velocity v= 24.486 - 3.99*9.8 = -14.616 m/s

final horizontal velocity = 14.616/tan57.1 degree = 9.456 m/s

since horizontal velocity remians constant,

initial angle theta = arctan(24.486/9.456)

= 68.9 degree
