Question

Correction to my previous question: what is the resistance of a wire made with resistivity 3.2x10^-8 ohms m if it has dimensions length=2.5m and diameter =0.5 mm? B) what would be the new resistance if the wire is stretched uniformily to a length of 3 meters? Explanation / Answer

A.)Resistance = resitvity *( length of wire / cross section of wire )

= 3.2x10^-8 ohms m (2.5m/(pi* 0.0005/2 )^2 )

=40.74 ohm

B.)new resistance =  resitvity *( length of wire / cross section of wire )

= 3.2x10^-8 ohms m (3m/(pi* 0.0005/2 )^2 )

= 48.89 ohm
