Question
Could someone answer this with a simple explanation of the method gone applied? Thank you! :)
The five diagrams show portions of systems of pipes (with circular cross sections) where a non-viscous incompressible fluid enters at the left and leaves from the right. The diameters of some of the pipes are indicated. The views are either top views of pipe systems in the horizontal plane, or side views of pipe systems in the vertical plane. Find the largest pressure in each diagram and enter your answer from the list of choices below. E.g., if P1 is largest for the first diagram and P2 is largest for the other diagrams, enter ABBBB.
Explanation / Answer
pipe is inversely proportional
to the cross-sectional area of the pipe. The liquid will be moving
slowly where the area is large and will be moving rapidly where the area is small.
1)In figure p1 diameter is less when compared with p2 so p1 is larger .
A
2)In figure p3 AND P1 diameter is less when compared with p2 p1 so p3 is larger .
C
3)In figure p2 diameter is less when compared with p1 so p2 is larger .
B
4) In figure p2 diameter is less when compared with p1 and p3 so p2 is larger
B
5) In figure p2 diameter is less when compared with p1 so p2 is larger
B
