Question
In electric field re-drawn here, a positively -charged lead is carried form point F to point E, along one of there two paths: 2. Suppose the head is pushed from D to E. Is the week done on the head positive, negative, or zero? Explain. 3. Answering question 1 above student says The work is the name along bath paths, for this reason. Along path 2, you fight the field head on (from F to D), which mean your force is directly against the field; bus that force acts over a short distance. Along path 1 you fight the field atExplanation / Answer
1) work done in both path is same because work done is equal to change in potential energy and this electrical potential energy depends only on final and initial position, not on the path taken
2) work done is positive because force and displacement are in same direction.
3) I disagree because displacement in direction of force is same in both case. So in both case same force is acting for the same amount of displacement in vertical direction. So we can say work done is same in both case.
