Question
Could you help me how this antimicrobial agents affect on these organism E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus ,Bacillus cereus Test the ability of a substance to kill bacterial cells using antibacterial compounds. The effect of chemical and antimicrobial agents at a particular temperature on bacterial populations depends on several factors, .The effective concentration in contact with the bacteria The time of contact . The density of the population Two types of Antimicrobial chemicals : Bacteriostatic and Bactericidial We used Chlorhexidine ,Virkon ,Honey ,Chlorhexidine Multipurpose surface spray. We prepared 10X dilution series of the compounds. And tested after at 1, 5, 10, 15 and 30 and 40 minutes after the addition of the culture to the disinfectant. The bacterial species that that were tested are ,Bacillus cereus. E. coli,Staphylococcus aureusExplanation / Answer
bacteriostatic inhibit the growth of bacteria whereas bacteriocidal kill bacteria.
CHLORHEXIDINE: bacteriocidal nature, chlorhexidine can kill gram positive and gram negative bacteria . E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus with in 30 sec. Chlorhexidine being of positively charged nature binds with negatively charged of cell waal of bacteria and leads to destabilisation of cell wall, which leads to interfre with osmosis , results in leakage of cytoplasmic componenets of bacteria and ultimately cause death of bacterias.
VIRKON: bacteriocidal , with action of peroxygen , surfactants caose oxidation of protein of bacteria and protoplasm component, inhibition of enzyme activity , loss of cell wall itegrity and cause daeth finally.
HONEY: bacteriostatic and bacteriocidal( manuka) ; H2O2 in conjunction with component of honey leads to cytotoxic effect in bacteria ,reuslts in inhibition of bacteial growth and also cause DNA degradation.
