If someone can help me with this, you are the ultimate rockstar Problem 3 (12 points) A long, straight wire lies on a table and carries a constant current I. A rectangular loop of wire of length l, width w, and resistance R is placed on the table a View (Positive out of page) distance s from the wire. A. What is the direction of the magnetic field passing through the rectangular loop relative to Tabletop the coordinate axes shown above on the right? The rectangular loop is now moved along the tabletop directly away from the wire at a constant speed v Ids/dtlas shown to the right. B. Determine the direction of the induced magnetic field; Top the induced current in the loop. View Explain your reasoning. out of page) C. What is the direction of the net magnetic force exerted by the wire on the moving loop relative to the Tabletop coordinate axes shown above on the right? Explain your reasoning. D. Let Ind represent the current induced in the loop. Calculate the net magnetic force exerted by the wire on the moving loop. Give your answer in terms of some or all of the given quantities land, I, I, w, s, R, and any necessary physical constants.

Explanation / Answer

Correction: The force between parallel currents is attractive while repulsive in case of anti-parallel currents. Hence the net force on the loop is along positive y-axis direction. Also I forgot to mention in the answer that the forces on the two arms of the rectangular loop perpendicular to the external long wire cancels each other and would give no contribution to the net force. ..Thank you
