Question
I need to make a lab report on lab spring constant I need help to make introduction and conclusion. Can someone please help me to make it? I have attached picture of my data values.
Here is the data of first spring, we started with 250grams
for this pring we got 44.538% error, where the original error of this spring was (40(+-)10)%
Here is the data of 2nd spring:
We got 35.344 and the the original error of this spring was 35% or something
GENERAL SCIENCE LABORATORY 1110L Lab Experiment 5 THE SPRING CONSTANT objective: To determine the spring constant of a spiral spring Apparatus: Pendulum clamp, aluminum pole, large clamp, assorted masses, mass hanger, spiral spring, ruler, and 2-meter stick Theory: A spring constant is the measure of the stiffness of a spring. If a mass m is attached to the lower end of the spring, the spring stretches a distance of d from its initial position under the influence of the "load" weight. W mg The downward force, W, must be balanced by the upward restoring force of the spring when the system is at rest. (2) According to Hooke's law the restoring force of the spring is directly proportional to the elongation within the elastic limit (the maximum a spring can stretch without being permanently deformed) and can be written as (3) k d where F is the restoring force in Newtons (N), k is the spring constant in (N/m) and d is the elongation (the stretched amount) in Meyers (m). The restoring force is in the opposite direction to its elongation, as shown by theExplanation / Answer
Introduction :
according to hooke's law , force on a spring is directly propotional to the displacement of the spring from its equilibrium position. when a mass is hanged from the spring , due to weight of the mass , the spring gets stretched by some amount. we use the same thing here in the experiment by hanging a number of different masses to the spring and note the displacement of spring for each mass .then we use the equation given by hooke's law , F = kx to determine the spring constant of the spring.
conclusion :
we did not get the result 100% accurate as per hooke's law due to human error and other issues. the value of spring has to be same all the time but the values were very close to each other and can be assumed constant.
