Question

Describe what is happening at the place where the velocity changes from a relatively large negative number to a relatively large positive number. (Also, see acceleration graph).

Graph represents a tennis ball bouncing. Top graph is position over time. Middle Graph is velocity over time. Bottom graph is acceleration over time.

my answer: velocity is changing from very negative to positive because the ball is bouncing up and down. Constant acceleration is keeping the ball to move downward.

Explanation / Answer

Velocity is changing from very negative to very positive, when the ball hits the ground. Then suddenly the direction of velocity changes. When it is coming down it very negative at the wall. Just after hitting it is very positive.

So at the wall of the ground this happens.
