Question

Indicate whether the following statements are always true or can be false. (Select T-True, F-False. If the first is F and the rest T, enter FTTTTT).

A) In order not to slow down, a truck moving at a constant velocity needs a small net force applied.

B) If two objects have the same acceleration, they must be under the influence of equal forces.

C) An object's velocity will change if a net force acts on the object.

D) Mass and weight are exactly the same thing.

E) The net force which acts on an object which maintains a constant velocity is zero.

F) If a net force acts on an object, the object's speed must change.

I have tried FTTFTT and FTTFFT and both are wrong

Explanation / Answer

A) In order not to slow down, a truck moving at a constant velocity needs a small net force applied.

False

for a body moving with a constant velocity , the force acting on it is zero. sO ,it will continue in the constant motion even thought we do not apply any force

B) If two objects have the same acceleration, they must be under the influence of equal forces. False

F net = ma , so if the bodies have same acelleration but diffrent masses , the net forces will be diffrent , So false

C) An object's velocity will change if a net force acts on the object. TRUE

a = v-u/t so, if velocity will change give a acelleration , SO net force f= ma , SO net force acts

D) Mass and weight are exactly the same thing., False

No they are different, mass is in kgs , where as weight is newtons , weight is the force of attraction of body by Earth

E) The net force which acts on an object which maintains a constant velocity is zero. TRue

if there is constant velocity , it implies the change in velocity is 0 , SO aceeleration which is change in velocity per unit time is 0, so net forc , f= ma = 0.

F) If a net force acts on an object, the object's speed must change. TRUE

I have tried FTTFTT and FTTFFT and both are wrong
