A company is introducing a new product called " Joulies" which are small stainless steel balls filled with a material that undergoes a phase change from solid to liquid at 60 degree C. The company claims that when put into a hot drink in an insulated cup, the Joulies" will rapidly cool the drink to 60 degree C and then the drink will remain at this temperature for a long time. Do you believe the claims of the company? If so, explain how the "Joulies" can cool the drink but then keep it warm. If not, explain why they are incorrect.Explanation / Answer
The material goes for phase change at 60 degree centigrade because of the it will require a lot of heat to increase its temperature more than 60 degree.

L = Latent heat of state change (fusion)
When any object whose temperature is more than 60 degree comes in contact with this product then it will loose heat and the new product will gain heat but still the temperature of new product will not increase because the heat will be consumed in the phase transition process.
So the claims of the company are right.
