a)The magnetic force acting on a charged particle is perpendicular to both the velocity and magnetic field.

The velocity points towards right, The magnetic field pointing out can keep the force such that it remains undeflected.

b)We know that

F(electric) = F(magnetic)

q E = q v B

v = E/B

E = V/d ; V = V - (-V) = 2V

v = 2V/d B

V = 2 x 1000 / 0.02 x 50 = 2000 m/s

Hence, v = 2000 m/s
