Question

Three genes (gene A,gene B, and gene C) are located on chromosome number 1 as a linkage group. An AABBCC individual was crossed with an aabbcc individual. All F1 offspring had the genotype AaBbCc. An F1 was crossed with an aabbcc individual. Among F2 offspring, 19% had the recombinant phenotypes for genes A and B (e.g. Ab or aB), 11% had the recombinant phenotypes for genes B and C( e.g. Bc or bC), and 8% had the recombinant phenotypes for genes A and C (e.g. Ac or aC). In what or do genes A,B, and C occur on Chromosome 1?

Explanation / Answer

19% had A and B
11% had B and C and 8% had A and C

So the question is asking the order of linked genes on chromosome one

Well to get the frequency of recombination between genes means that the higher the frequency the closer the genes are to each other.

My guess would be that the order is:A, B, C where B is in the middle. This is based on the fact that there is a high frequency between A and B and between B and C which means that B is close to both A and C

Hopefully this helps
