Homo erectus have evolved 2 million years ago. They were larger than habilis and their brain larger than about 2/3rd of present day humans. They developed widespread tool culture , hand axes and scrappers. they prefffered opens savannahs and spread to Africa and other regions widely. They also discovered Homo erectus lived in close groups in china . They also used bamboo containers and weapons. Scientists also proposed that invention of fire also discovered by Homo erectus. The transition from Homo erectus to Homo sapiens began 400,000 or 500,000 years ago. The tool culture could have been emerged 200000 years ago which is the basis of Homo eructus to Homo sapiens evolution. Homo erectus has smaller brain and intellectual and because of that they cannot think intelligent as Homo sapiens . Homo erectus doesnt seem to have languages for communication. Hence sharing of information over generations cannot take place. Many theories have been proposed for this transition . They say that this transition from erectus to sapiens might have occured in Afro - Eurasian region. This transitition may be due to the mutation or genetic transfer of genes as they bred widely. Evidences from mitochondria and the anscestrol fossils prove that the modern humans are from African origin. Some of the evidences show that These transitions are taken place in the Indonesian regions where the erectus must have been wipped out by volcanic eruptions. Modern humans had larger brains due to which they can able to communicate and even language abilities are acquired 50000 years ago .
