Discussion: Prokaryote Diversity

I agree with you about the interesting nature of Archaea. A life form that can exist in those conditions must lead to some clues on how we can adapt to changing conditions as humans. I also found it interesting how they are more closely related to humans than bacteria. We think of any organism that is not a human as being closely related to each other, and not ourselves, but that is not the case.

You are absolutely right and i do agree with your statements. Archae is a single celled prokaryote similar to bacteria in its size. Though they do not possess any cell nucleus and any other membrane bound organelles in their cell, they possess several genes and metabolic pathways that are similar to eukaryotic enzymes that are involved in transcription and translation. Earlier they were classified under domain bacteria, but their unique properties led them to seperate from other 2 domains , that is bacteria and eukaryota.
