Question

Math and math based science just don't agree with my thinking process. I have been struggling with my physics course all semester. The end of this semester is rapidly approaching and I still do not feel as though I know the material for this class well enough to get the grade I need. Any and all advice/help on how to review/study for upcoming tests and the cumulative final at the end of the semester is greatly appreciated. I feel like I know a little bit from every area we've studied but not enough to know it all consistently or accurately.

Explanation / Answer

I tutor for physics 201, so naturally I would suggest tutoringservices, but I feel if you are willing to put in the work yourselfit is way more effective than paying someone else to do it foryou. If you are in a college physics class than most likely youwill have end of chapter problems, which are typically self ratedas either easy, medium, or hard. General Physics cannot go to indepth without losing non math savy students the problemstypically all follow a pattern. For example if you are not giventhe mass you can usually cancel it out. With kinematics rememberingthat acceleration is constant g in the y direction and typically 0in the x direction is another important pattern. The key to physicsas with any other math based course is practice practice practice.Go through the problems untill you find one you cannot do, look itup on cramster or ask on the Q&A and work it step by stepuntill you understand fully what to do. Once you understand thatproblem, if you are ever to see one similar you will already knowthe steps and will be able to reproduce them if you took the timeto properly learn the first time. It also helps to practice doublesubsitution and seeing the instances where you can cancel outvariables or get tangent instead of sin and cos. So practicepractice practice and then dont forget to take advantage of everyresource possible, especially cramster. Check the resources sectionfor practice problems or tests or if your lucky and your collegebook has a study guide to go with it make sure to work through thatas well. . Cheers and good luck my friend Billy
