Question

A peregrine falcon dives at a pigeon. The falcon starts downward from rest with free-fall acceleration. If the pigeon is 76.0 m below the initial position of the falcon, how long does the falcon take to reach the pigeon? Assume that the pigeon remains at rest.

The answer in my book is 3.94 s, but I'm not sure how to achieve that.
So far, I have:

Vi = 0 m Vf = 76 m ?t = ? s a = 0.81 m/s^2 ?t = ?V/a A peregrine falcon dives at a pigeon. The falcon starts downward from rest with free-fall acceleration. Explanation / Answer

Initial speed, v = o m/s
Displacement, s = h = 76 m
From the equations of motion, s = vt + (1/2) gt^2 h = (1/2) gt^2
= sqrt ( 2 * 76 / 9.8 ) = 3.94 s
