An advanced computer sends information to its various parts via infrared light pulses traveling through silicon fibers. To acquire data from memory, the central processing unit sends a light-pulse request to the memory unit. The memory unit processes the request, then sends a data pulse back to the central processing unit. The memory unit takes 0.5 ns to process a request.

If the information has to be obtained from memory in 2.0 ns, what is the maximum distance the memory unit can be from the central processing unit?

I have already tried 22.5, 60, 37.5, and 45 and these answers were wrong. I only have two tries left so please help!!

From the simple definition,    the time taken for the information to travel apart from the request is        t = 2.02 ns - 0.53 ns = 1.5ns = 1.49x10^-9s The distance traveled by the light pulse is       d = (3x10^8m/s)(1.49x10^-9s)          = 0.447m
