A site-plan shows the proposed grade for a construction project and the elevation at each station is acquired through profile leveling. How will the amount to cut or fill at each station be calculated A site-plan shows the proposed grade for a construction project and the elevation at each station is acquired through profile leveling. How will the amount to cut or fill at each station be calculated A site-plan shows the proposed grade for a construction project and the elevation at each station is acquired through profile leveling. How will the amount to cut or fill at each station be calculatedExplanation / Answer
This can be done through Grid method.
In this a uniform grid of equal dimensions is drawn on the area. The existing and proposed ground levels at each node of the grid are taken. With the help of this we find the avg height of cut or fill for each cell of the grid. The volume is calculated by multiplying the avg height with the area of each grid. The volumes of each grid is added together and the total cut and fill volumes are determined.
The cut and fill depth is determined by subtracting the avg existing level of grid from the avg level decided. If resultant depth is positive then we have to fill if it is negative then we have to cut. In both the cases the volume is determined by multiplying the cut or fill with the area of the grid.
After calculating the for each grid, all the cut grid cells are added together to find cut volume, and all the fill cells are added together for fill volume.
Thus by this method cut and fill volume are determined.
