I understand how to workelectric flux and Gauss's Law but the example we went over in classwas with a sphere (to make the problem simple). Having to work witha cube is messing me up with how to work the problem. Any help willbe greatly appreciated!

Explanation / Answer

= Q / 0   where Q is inside"any" closed surface. By symmetry the flux thru any side with Q at the centerof the cube is = Q / (6 0) The answer to part B will change if the charge is moved to aposition other than the center of the cube. This because the solid angle subtended by a face of the cubewith respect to the position of the charge will not be the same for all faces. The flux thru asurface can also be written as = Q / (4 0 ) where is thesolid angle subtended by a surface. Since equals 4 for a closed surface you getGauss' Law = Q / 0
