a. {refer to the image at the end} This constraint cannot be there because it means that none of the alternatives are selected . Also if you look at the set of x the value can only be 0 or 1. the constraint could be Xj>=0.
b. The 4th constraint tells us whether a particular activity is chosen or not. since x can only be 0 or 1, if the summation is zero it means no activity is chosen. so summation 1 means that one activity has to be chosen. thus here the 4th constarint means that one acivity has to be chosen.
c. The objective function is to
maximize the contributions for the national income by chosing the appropriate activities from alternative objectives
d. The contributions made to environmenal quality as a result of chosing this alternative must be more than the what has to be mainatined as a result of social responsibility. in otherwords here we are only considering the benefits to the environment that are greater than that which come due to your social responsibility.
e. Total no of constaints here are four. the values of X =(0,1) is not a constraint
