Question

I tried to figure this out but I am having difficulty. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated! (a) the required resistance of the coil
___________ (b) the length of wire you must use to wind the coil
____________ m I am confused as to which equation that I need to use. I firstthought that I could use deltaV= IR since I am given the values. But I must be wrong. Thanks again for all the help!

Explanation / Answer

a) V=IR R=V/I=(240V)/(9A)=26.7 ohms b) R=kL/A L=RA/ you know R, you can calculate the cross sectional area of the wirefrom the radius information, and is the resistivity of thenichrome, which is a tabulated value you would have to look upsomewhere. then just plug & chug!
