A steel cable is attached to an elevator and is pulling theelevator up at a constant velocity of

v0. If the tension in the cable is doubled, theelevator

a) moves up at a constant velocity of 2v0.

b) moves up at velocity greater than v0, but not necessarily2v0.

c) speeds up for a while, but eventually reaches a constantspeed.

d) moves up at a continually faster speed.   

e) moves up at a constant velocity of v0 but with a greatertension.

I know it is either A, B or D but have not idea past that. Pleasehelp!!!

             If theelecator moving with constant veloctity then accelaration iszero                                  T - mg = ma                                  T - mg = 0                                      T= mg   --------(1)                 If the tension in the string is doubled then  elevatoraccelarates                                      2T - mg = ma                                    2T- T = ma (from (1) )                                           T = ma        Then the elecatoraccelarates then moves up at a continually faster speed
