Physics Cutnel and Johnson 7th Ed, chap 22 problem 29
Suppose figure 22.1 that the bar magnet was held stationary, but the coil of wire was free to move. which way will current bedirected through the anmeter, left to right or right to left, whenthe coil is movied to left? (a) to the right?(b) Explain.
Suppose figure 22.1 that the bar magnet was held stationary, but the coil of wire was free to move. which way will current bedirected through the anmeter, left to right or right to left, whenthe coil is movied to left? (a) to the right?(b) Explain.

Explanation / Answer

according to Faraday’s law, only the relativemotion between the coil and magnet is significant    it makes no difference if the coil is heldfixed and the magnet is moved or the magnet is held fixed and thecoil is    moved    the results are the same (a)    the current will flow from as shown infig 22.1b (b)
the current will flow from as shown in fig22.1c
