(a)the tension in the cable is T = m * (g + a) m = 79-kg,g = 9.8 m/s^2 and a = 0.70 m/s^2 (b)the work done by the tension in the cable is W = T * S S = 11 m (c)the work done by the person's weight is W1 = w * S = m * g * S where g = 9.8 m/s^2 (d)according to the work energy theorem the total work done onthe system is equal to the difference between the final and initialkinetic energies of the system therefore we get W - W1 = (1/2)m * v^2 - (1/2)m * u^2 = (1/2)m * (v^2 -u^2) v and u are the final and initial velocities of theperson here,u = 0 or W - W1 = (1/2)m * v^2 or v = (2 * (W - W1)/m)^(1/2)
