(a) . velocity of the boat relative to shore v =[ 1.8 ^ 2 + 15 ^ 2 ]                                                                 = 15.107 m / s (2). tan = 15 / 1.8             = 83.157 degrees (b). tan = required distance / width of river So, required distance = width of river * tan                                 = 290 m * tan 83.157                                 = 2416.66 m tan = required distance / width of river So, required distance = width of river * tan                                 = 290 m * tan 83.157                                 = 2416.66 m
