He did not publish until 1686, 20 years later. Galileo was in house arrest for the last ten years of his life after being found guilty of heresy. He wrote many letters on his experiments and celestial observations which were smuggled to the rest of the world outside Italy. In your opinion who of these two ‘giants' is the greatest scientist? well i would say both were great ,

but if you ask me to choose one of them , iwill surely go for newton , this is because , in my opinion newton was first to observe the consequaes of force and her also came up with equatio f= ma, whilw , on the other hand gallieo ran the experiments to proof them right , please dont get offened if you like galileo
