Question

I really need the MOST help with e) but if you could also do the other ones that would be great.

Please start with e) Time it takes mass to get to the position x= -0.10m after it has been released:

The simple harmonic motion of the mass is described by x t = 0.46 m)cos[(18 rad/se-Determine the following (c) position of the mass after it has been oscillating for one half a period (d) position of the mass one-third of a period after it has been released (e) time it takes the mass to get to the position x =-0.10 m after it has been released

Explanation / Answer

x(t) = 0.46 cos(18 t)

and T = 2 pi / 18

(c) t = 0.5 T = pi / 18

x = 0.46 cos(pi) = - 0.46 m

(d) t = T / 3

x = 0.46 cos(2 pi / 3) = - 0.23 m

(c) x = - 0.10 = 0.46 cos(18 t)

cos(18 t) = 0.217

18 t = 0.57 pi

t = 0.0994 sec
