Question

Please step by step

If a Memory unit is IK by 8-bits, it will require 10 address lines (...or k=10...). If you now increase the size to 4K by 8-bits how many address lines will it require? Still only needs 10. Now it will need 11. Now it will need 12. Now it will need 4 x as many....40 address lines. In the 4 x 4 RAM, in Figure 2 above- why is there only 1 line called Read/Write instead of a separate line for Read and a separate line for Write? (Explain how it works compared to Figure 1 which has separate lines.)

Explanation / Answer

a)----- now it will need 12 address lines

the slect input enable the cell for readind and wrighting and read/wright input determine yhe cell operation when its slected

A1 in the read/write input provides the read operation by formining a path from the latch to the output terminal , A0 in the read/write input provides the right operations by formining a path from input terminal to latch

where A1 and A0 r binary representation

bec of this we can use one slect line (read/write operation)
