Question
Hey,I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the setup of thisquestion. When i set my formula
vb=va+abX rba where the "X" is crossproduct, I cant seem to get the correct value for the rotationalvelocity. I tried to use the formulavb=rab(ab),but this value of the rotational velocity is only a magnitude... Idunno, what am I missing here? I was told I COULD use the sineformula, with the aide of an instantaneous centre, but it alsoproduced the wrong values. Is there a chance to see how this oneplays out through the workings of an expert ? thanks
Dave
Explanation / Answer
... also let me clarify a bit the 4 equation four unknowns he is talking about are your two velocity vectors (v + r x ) and your acceleration ( if i'm rememebering correctly dv/dt + r(r x )) howevery since this is a two-body problem you can also do a I.C. (instanious center) linking the two masses and finding a new for that system. look in the index of Hibbler and find the I.C. he should have a blurb about it. I don't have my dyamics book to show you what i mean sorry bout that, but this is a the process to get you on the right track and solve this problem...
